About the Artist, Angelo Musco:
New York City based Contemporary Artist, born in Naples, Italy is known for using the nude body on a massive scale to create images of natural and man-made architecture, celebrating birth, early life, nutrition, and community. He stages large nude photo shoots around the world to gather the material/images needed to maintain an extensive photo- archive of bodies, groups of bodies in various shapes. The artist then melds, manipulates, and uses the bodies like paint on a brush to create surreal and emotionally evocative images.
Musco’s work was part of the 53rd Annual Venice Biennale. He has shown in Chicago, Paris, New York, Mexico City, Miami, Toronto, as well as The National Gallery of Perugia in Italy, Maison Particuliere in Brussels, The Museum of non-Conformism Art in St Petersburg, and QUT Art Museum Brisbane in Australia. Features on the artist and his work have appeared in Time, The New York Times, Wall Street Journal and numerous Art and Culture publications, blogs, and websites. In 2013, he was commissioned by Fendi to create a sculpture inspired by the iconic Fendi Baguette, that became part of their permanent collection.
Angelo Musco was the subject of the film CONCEPTION by director Robert Jason which premiered at Lincoln Center in 2014. Musco made his own directorial debut in 2022 with the documentary THE LAND OF SCARS which explores the four years the artist committed to completing his most complex and personal artwork to date, sharing his own emotional layers, as well as celebrating the rich emotional histories of dozens of models and muse who have impacted and left their mark on the artist.

The Art @ Down To The Roots:
The art piece at the entrance is entitled Down To The Roots, a site-specific commissioned work for the Down To The Roots Cannabis Retail Store in Chester, VT, melding the visual language and themes utilized by the artist with the concepts and aspirations of the founders of the Dispensary. Several thousand bodies create the image.
Farfalla:
The Monarch butterfly is the official State Butterfly of Vermont. The artist’s own fascination with butterflies began in 2017. His research resulted in Chrysalis, a manipulation of thousands of nude bodies representing a bold cluster of butterflies relating to metamorphosis, transformation, freedom, and beauty. Farfalla, presented here, with the dominant Red color also symbolizes life, health, vigor, passion, and strength. The art piece has only one element, the butterfly, center in the image and acts like an anchor of centrality connecting the entrance with the next room of the space. Farfalla means butterfly in Italian.
Xylem and Phloem:
The final 2 works presented at Down To The Roots, framing the fireplace chimney are details from 2 large works inspired by forests and part of the artist’s Cortex series. These works of branches, trees and roots connect to concepts of stability, and the systems of nutrition and sustenance with the roots drawing up nutrients into a vast arboreal vascular system with a sense of being grounded, strength, community as well as a visual genealogical connection to the past.
All the Works are printed on photo paper Epson Archival inks mounted between Debond and Plexiglass.
